As you may have noticed on the far right side of the blog I have the Lifestream Plugin for Wordpress running to show what I am doing online on a daily basis. For those of you who want to know more about Lifestream, it’s a fun little plugin that is also useful. More importantly today it was just updated!
“Lifestream displays your social feeds and photos much like you would see it on many of the social networking sites.”
Features:
-
* Unlimited number of feeds.
* Stores entire feed history, not just the last week or two.
* Extendable via a base PHP class. Easily add your own feed types with very little PHP code.
* Customizable display using stylesheets.
* Allows grouping of events to cutback on the daily feed spam.
* Localization ready!
* Daily digest available to summarize your activities.
* Efficient! Built on scalable database structures so it won’t bog down your website.
Of course I don’t want to leave out all of the changes from the new version.
Updates:
-
* Changed LifeStream update and daily digest to use wp-cron.
* Changed activation hooks to use official methods.
* Added an option to specify the URL handler. Automatic, Curl, and fopen are currently available.
* Twitter based feeds will now show a [#] link after the message.
* Added a “Hide Replies” option to Twitter based feeds.
* Digest now uses your Day Format in the Post Title.
* Added time to the Post Title option for digest.
* Added interval for digest (hourly, daily, weekly).
* Added post time for digest.
* Added Scrnshots feed thanks to Logan Leger.
* Added Readernaut feed thanks to Logan Leger.
* The Xbox Live feed is now properly encoding your username if it had spaces.
It's a useful app to either be configured to run as a blog post each day including all of your activities, on the sidebar as I have it, or can even be setup on it's own page. Personally I'm a fan and if you are thinking about expanding your blog to show what your doing in social networking it's a great plugin to pickup and can be done so at the Lifestream Homepage.
Edit: Before installing the .94 beta read this post. I highly suggest installing the latest stable build over the latest beta.
