Let’s face it the majority of geeks and Internet junkies out there (by there I of course mean here, the Internet) do tend to fall into the male category. However, this is also VERY clearly not by the overwhelming numbers it would have been 10 years ago. When I was still in high school the thought of a female geek (into computers at least) was unheard of. Thankfully today this has changed though not everyone who grew up when I did seems to have noticed. I realized this when one of my friend’s who is starting to get interested in the idea of blogging was asking me which blogs I tended to follow on a regular basis. As I started listing my top 25 he notices that almost half of those on the list were women and that is what caught his attention.
With this in mind I felt that I would compile a list of my favorite top 5 female bloggers that I follow. While that was the original goal I couldn’t cut it down to under the 6 that I have listed here.
6 Female Bloggers You Should Follow
1.) Liz Strauss. A blogger who has great interaction with her readers and writes on business, marketing, blogging, as well as writing. She often works with other bloggers for interviews, conversations, and features concerning them and has done quite a few guest blogs online. She has been involved in publishing for over 20 years and is someone whose advice is not given without thought put into it.
2.) Christine O’Kelly. Christine is someone to respect as she quit her job cold turkey to jump head first into being an online entrepreneur and has since learned the ins and outs of SEO copywriting and many other aspects in keeping herself self-employed. In her blog she gives a lot of constant advice to Internet marketers and all of her work is written in both an educational and entertaining manner.
3.) Emily Chang. Emily is a web designer and co-founder of Ideacodes, a design and web consultancy in San Francisco. She focuses on web design and how users interact with the Internet, technology, as well as what she is working on. She always writes about what is new and upcoming and if you are trying to keep on top of things following her blog and following her writings at her eHub will be refreshing.
4.) Lorelle VanFossen. Any blogger who uses Wordpress and has not stumbled upon Lorelle’s site for a guide on how to do something with the software has not been working at enough customization. While working with various themes and trying to find new ways to do things I ended up subscribing to her blog from just ending up there so often from searches. She truly enjoys helping bloggers everywhere and it shows in her writing and ability to constantly find something new and useful.
5.) Penelope Trunk. A writer who is now on her 4′th name (you really need to read that one on your own time) who writes on career advice and does a spectacular job on bringing up things you should know. From interviews to being unemployed she covers everything in the field of career advice. While most of the bloggers on this list are more directly related to blogging you cannot forget that blogging can be a business and good advice in the area shouldn’t be ignored.
6.) Ms. Danielle. While not a blogger you will see posting daily she does usually post frequently and is one whose RSS feed you should subscribe to. Well written posts on PPC, SEO, and advice for online marketing are all worth a read and are easy to follow. I highly enjoy this one and just wish that it was updated more frequently.
So with that in mind do you have any female bloggers who write on blogging, the Internet, business, web development, or any similar fields to suggest?
